Let’s Put a Colorful Bandage on a Painful Needle Shot!

In the United States colorful bandages are an everyday kind of thing, but to those children fighting cancer in Lithuania, the colorful bandages create so much joy during those painful moments. However, the colorful bandages only reach the hospital when people donate them. At first, Aiste wanted to buy some boxes and send them to Lithuanian hospitals but after some thought, a decision was made to invite Lithuanians across the United States to join. She sent out invites to Lithuanian schools and communities all over the United States and was pleasantly surprised by the kindness and enthusiasm from others.

This project has also attracted not only Lithuanians, but also people from other nations. During the last couple of years people not only from the United States have taken part in this project, but also from England, Germany, Ireland, Lithuania, India, Australia and Sweden. The goal is to expand this project out to as many different parts of the world as possible so that children can have more joy and happiness while going through the struggle of fighting cancer. 

Six Good Will Ambassadors have also join Aiste in this project to help spread the word.

Up until now thousands of boxes of colorful bandages were collected! Every year this project is successfully able to put a colorful Bandage on a painful needle shot and will continue to do so!

The project is done together with Rimantas Kaukenas Charity Group, which is a nonprofit organization that helps children who are affected by cancer and their families through various ways that include buying medicine that is not covered by the hospitals/government, make children’s wishes come true (buy them their dream toy, meet their favorite athlete, celebrity, etc.) and much more.

Spalvotas Pleistriukas buvo pradėtas Niujorke 2015 metais. Šį projektą inicijavo Aistė Furajevaitė kai ji išgirdo daug skaudžių istorijų apie vaikus sergančius vėžiu. Viena istorija jai įstrigo labiausiai – buvo mažas berniukas, kuriam reikėjo imti kraują ir jis paklausė „ar bus spalvotas pleistriukas”? Kai daktarė atsakė, kad taip, berniukas pasakė “tai einame, vadinasi man neskaudės”.

Onkoligoniukams spalvotas pleistriukams suteikia nors kažkiek džiaugsmo per skausmus. Amerikoje spalvoti pleistriukai yra kasdienybė. Lietuvos ligoninės jų nebeturi – viskas ką jos turi, tai paaukoti pleistriukai, kurie atkeliauja iš svetur. Iš pradžių Aistė norėjo pati nupirkti kažkiek dėžučių ir išsiųsti į ligonines Lietuvoje, bet paskui buvo nuspręsta, kad bandyti prijungti kuo daugiau lietuvių Amerikoje. Ji išsiuntė kvietimus visoms lituanistinėms mokykloms ir bendruomenėms Amerikoje ir buvo nustebus sulaukti tokio noro prisidėti iš žmonių.

Per paskutinius kelis metus prie šio projekto prisidėjo ne tik žmonės iš JAV, bet ir iš Anglijos, Airijos, Vokietijos, Švedijos, Australijos, ir Indijos. Jungiasi net tik lietuviai, bet ir kitų tautybių žmonės. Tikslas praplėsti projektą į kiek galima daugiau pasaulio kraštų, kad suteikti kiek įmanoma daugiau džiaugsmo mažiesiems onkoligoniukams.

Šeši Geros Valios Ambasadoriai prisijungė skleisti žinią apie projektą. 

Iki šiol buvo surinkta tūkstančiai dėžučių pleistriukų! Kiekvienais metais sėkmingai užklijuotas ne vienas skausmingas adatos dūris spalvotu pleistriuku ir tai tęsis toliau!

Šis projektas yra vykdomas su Rimanto Kaukėno Paramos Fondu. Paramos Fondas suteikia viltį, stiprybę ir džiaugsmą onkologinėmis ligomis sergantiems vaikams. Jų tikslas yra palengvinti gyvybiškai pavojingomis ligomis sergančių vaikų ir jų šeimų naštą. Padėti jiems išgyventi sunkios diagnozės traumą, ilgą gijimo kelionę ir pripildyti vaikų gyvenimą šviesos.„Niekada nesitikėjau, kad tiek džiaugsmo suteiks spalvotas pleistriukams onkoligoniukams ir, kad prisijungs tiek daug žmonių iš skirtingų pasaulio kraštų! Labai dėkinga visiems kurie randa gėrio ir nelieka abejingi. Visi kartu užklijuokime skausmingą adatos dūrį spalvotu pleistriuku!“
